International Trade Compliance Director

Job description :
The JOB: * Responsible in the developing and implementing processes, procedures and systems that ensure compliance * Develop uniform standards and procedures for the region, dove-tailing Corporate and group-level procedures * Interpret relevant customs and export control regulations and provide guidance to Division accordingly * Work with Divisions to assess and secure appropriate International Trade Compliance resources * Drive company's International Trade Compliance strategies plan and key initiatives for the region * Assist Division International Trade Compliance personnel on key issues and projects like multi-country head start strategy, new plant start-up and etc. * Develop and deliver relevant training, through a variety of formats * Manage key group-wide import and export function * Create regional International Trade Compliance International council, International Trade Compliance web site, and other tolls to ensure regional information sharing and leverage * Serve as a single escalation point for International Trade Compliance issues within the region and key liaison with government authorities * Assist with the investigation of suspected violations of International Trade Compliance laws or related company policies * Preparation of disclosures when necessary and development of remedial measures.
 
Qualifications :
The CANDIDATE: * Degree or Master in Business/ Law or government affair preferred * At least 8-10 years of direct import and/ or export compliance experience in a major corporation, service company, or law firm * Proven use of Six-Sigma tolls to drive process improvements is preferred * Subject-matter expertise in all relevant areas of trade compliance locally and regionally and in relevant US export control regulations * Experience in drafting formal correspondence with government agencies as well as setting and managing budgets. * Proven ability to identify areas where process improvement is required to develop process improvements with the businesses and to assist the businesses in implementing those improvements * Experience in developing and delivering trade compliance training. * A strong team member, able to shift roles as required by the group dynamic team, ie. Contributor and facilitator * Experience managing a team of subordinates * At least 25% of travelling
